Lead UX/UI Designer
Model

This was a massive project that included a total redesign of the UI/UX of our 3D estimating tool, the creation of a mobile companion app, and the build-out of our Desktop Style Guide. All which resulted in a dramatic decrease in customer support calls, higher customer satisfaction with the ribbon and core functionality, and an increase in user retention.
I was the lead designer on this team which consisted of developers, product managers, product owners, sales, and marketing.
Model (the name of the product) is a very powerful application that enables users to work through tons of different tasks. It has a wide variety of users all trying to accomplish their goals on the same interface. It has just one major problem, it hides all of that amazing functionality behind walls of menus. Our goal here was to take an already functionally great application and bring that power in front of the user by cleaning up years of bad UX.
Reorganized settings menu and brought them in front of user when the tool is active.
Clearer data for measurement data.
Increased control over measurements in the measurement list.
Below are some examples of the changes made to the UI and UX to help bring a lot of hidden features in front of users. We also simplified a lot of the experiences to help new users feel more comfortable jumping into an already daunting application.
Nothing is simple about any software in this suite of applications and Model is no different. Being the only 3D modeling application in the suite it requires a unique perspective from the others, and often you find yourself in uncharted territory where a unique design is the only solution.
Taking a complicated piece of software and trying to translate that experience into a mobile environment is no easy task. This UI is a mix of custom components and standard iOS components. Where it made sense we followed standard mobile protocols and broke from those where we felt the experience would not fit within current industry conventions.
The desktop style guide served as a compilation of reusable components that could be combined quickly to build pages and other larger UI elements. I designed everything from the smallest pieces to large elements that spanned between multiple tools in the application.
